Karishma Tanna has returned to the Balaji camp after a long gap. After featuring in shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kkoi Dil Mein Hai and Kkusum, she is now working on the new edition of Naagin. In the show, she is playing one of the two shape-shifting snakes.
Her show has been accused of being regressive, but Tanna isn’t worried about criticism as she banks on the huge ‘fan following’ the Naagin franchise has got.
In a conversation with Mid-Day, she answered the question about her show’s quality. She believes Indian television shows are getting to the level where they can be at par with popular international shows.
She said, “I am a big GoT fan. I would say, we are getting there. Internationally, show makers don’t drag storylines. If I have a production house, I’d only make finite stories. In case of daily soaps, I think they should not extend beyond six months.”
Tanna says people know Naagin is a ‘fictional show’, but there are many who ‘ridicule’ such content, but “the beauty with which the female actors are portrayed adds to its value.”
She has replaced Mouni Roy on the show. Mouni has moved on to Bollywood and will soon be seen in films like Gold and Brahmastra.
