Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Dhadak may have received criticism for being a glossier version of its original Sairat, but audiences have accepted the two young stars with open arms. On Wednesday, Karan Johar took to Twitter to share that his production venture has touched the Rs 100 mark worldwide.
He wrote, “DHADAK!!!!! Wins hearts globally !! 100 crore WORLDWIDE GROSS!!! A rare feat for a film with newcomers! So proud of Janhvi and Ishan! @ShashankKhaitan.” This would be Shashank Khaitan’s third consecutive box office hit for Dharma Productions as well. The director worked on Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, both starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, which were both successful at the box office.
Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi debuted with Dhadak in Bollywood and she couldn’t be happier with the success of her film. She took to Instagram and wrote, “Thankful, grateful, and blessed for all of you, and because of all of you. #dhadak.” She shared a few behind-the-scenes shots from the film.
Dhadak is a love story between an upper class girl, Parthavi and middle class boy, Madhu who elope when their parents find out the truth. The film also starred Ashutosh Rana, who played the role of Janhvi’s father in the film.
